General Info

Who should apply?
Anyone in the DFW area who creates 2D art in any medium except for photography. Photographers should apply through Thin Line Fest for a separate show. The link will be provided when their applications open.
What are the size requirements?
All work must be no larger than 30"x30" including the frame.
When can I apply and when will I hear back?
Applications open November 23rd and close February 18th. Artists will be notified of their acceptance on March 4th.
When is the show and where do I drop off my work?
The exact days are TBD, but will be held during the weekend of Denton Makers at Thin Line.
Where is the event located?
Artwork will be displayed at Sunago Bell, an event venue located at the top of the Wells Fargo building in downtown Denton, Texas. The space will be open to the public. Dates to follow.
Where do I drop off my work?
All artwork must be dropped off in person to our DMF organizers located in Denton, Texas. Accepted artists will be notified of the time slots and drop off location.
Do I need to have a mounting system on my piece?
Yes, you are required to have a wire hanging system on the back of your art. Any other hanging method or no hanging method will disqualify you from the event, even if you were accepted into the show.
What are the prizes?
There will be cash awards given to first, second, and third place works chosen by our judges. There may be additional gifts provided by our sponsors.
What is the cost to enter?
Cost to enter starts at $30 for the first piece. An additional $15 each for the second and third pieces.

Juried Show Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there an application fee?

The fee ensures that we only get serious applications. The money we receive from the applications goes to improving and expanding the show.

What if I was accepted but can no longer participate in the show?

Let us know ASAP if you can no longer participate in the event so we can give your spot to a waitlisted artist. No-shows will likely result in the inability to provide a refund and may hurt your chances of being accepted into future events. However, things happen, so reach out, and we will do our best to work with you.

What happens if my application is denied?

We are working hard to accommodate more artists, but we have limited space. If denied, we invite you to reach out to us and learn how to improve your chances of acceptance the following year. Of course, You can always try again!

Why might my application get denied?

Other than the quality of work, we deny applications if you have no-showed our event in the past or if we can tell you didn’t take the time to correctly fill out the form. We expect professionalism when looking through applications, so sloppy photographs of your work or poorly filled out applications will get you denied.

What happens if I am waitlisted?

If you are waitlisted, you are not denied from participating in the show. You will still be able to sell if one of our accepted artists drop out.

Will there be special accommodations for artists who may need it?

Yes! If you are accepted into the show and need assistance, please reach out to us, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Can I apply to both the juried show and the booth event?

Yes! Please fill out the booth show application located under apply in the menu on our website.

What if my artwork is not framed or on a canvas and cannot have the standard wire hanging system?

We still expect you to have some sort of wire based hanging system. We require all pieces to be mounted to a rigid surface or framed.
